As the Ronald McDonald’s House of Kansas City’s biggest fundraiser, the Red Shoe Shindig carries great importance. For 2018, we wanted to look through the eyes of children they serve. In relaying the whimsy and wonder of childhood, we could help urge donors to open their wallets to support this amazing cause.
Our creative concept showed the way that kids are able to just be kids—regardless of their battles—because of the Ronald McDonald House. Sick kids have hardships that most adults won’t ever have to face in their lifetime, but the Ronald McDonald House gives them a safe place to dream, jump, run, and dance. Exploring these ideas through a colorful, storybook design, we created everything from save-the-dates and invitations to centerpiece design elements. To tie everything together, we created a custom stage graphic and a layered storybook entry display that brought the concept into the space. Our goal was to allow adults to enter a child’s dream world where anything is possible, and there are no battles that can’t be conquered.
The evening raised $720,000, busting through last year’s record and making it the most successful year yet. The money raised keeps families together during the toughest times, providing support and lodging to over 7,000 families in Kansas City each year.
