A dynamic and quick-thinking creative, Justin has been illustrating and designing for nearly a decade. Justin has been described as an old school art director with a modern set of skills, and he’s put those skills to good use for brands like Sonic, Boehringer Ingelheim, AMC Theaters and Merial. In his own words, he’s an all-or-nothing person, ready and willing to go all out in his work. He’s unafraid of hard work and commitment and has been a member of the United States Air Force for the past 18 years.
Start Date: July 13th (I think)
Describe yourself in 3 words. I’d rather not.
If you weren’t a Art Director, what would you be? Unemployed—am I doing this right?
If you had to pick a walk up song, what would it be? Oh Yeah – Yello
What is the last show you binge watched? That Mitchell and Webb Look
If you were an emoji, what emoji would you be?
What are you afraid of? Shiner Bock discontinuing Prickly Pear. Soft teeth. Internet outages.
Breakfast, lunch or dinner? Support your answer. Breakfast at Ann Sather’s for a mascarpone-filled cinnamon roll entrée with two sides—both cinnamon rolls.
What is your favorite brand of coffee? Messenger
Best place in the world that you have visited and why? The inside of an Amtrak lounge car; there’s something about the way traveling creates the sense of being a time-traveler, like the outside world and adult responsibilities have stopped and they can’t catch you as long as you keep moving.
What is your Kansas City hidden gem (bar, restaurant, etc)? I like going to too many places to have a favorite and I’m definitely not hip enough to call anything I like hidden, but Browne’s Irish Marketplace is great for Ruebens and surrogate mothering on a rainy day. The model apartments in IKEA are pretty great too—what’s the Swedish policy on squatting?
Why MBB? My wife refuses to pay me to stay home and play video games.
